HEAD COACH COREY KERR, a native of Western Pennsylvania, returns for his fifth year at Clear Falls High School and his 28th year in education.  Before arriving in Texas, Kerr served as wrestling coach at Buckeye Local Middle School in Rayland, OH garnering the Ohio Valley Athletic Conference Championship in 1992.

This will be Coach Kerr’s 17th year serving students as wrestling coach.   Mr. Kerr started the wrestling program at Cypress Creek HS before moving to Jersey Village High School.  While in Cypress Fairbanks Independent School District schools, Kerr had 20 state qualifiers, 14 all-state wrestlers, 7 state finalists, and 3 state champions.   He was also selected as District Wrestling Coach of the Year in 2011.

In his first season as head coach of the Knight's wrestling team, and with the assistance of an outstanding wrestling booster club, Clear Falls saw the return of it's Arm Bar Invitational Wrestling Tournament and hosted the first Junior Varsity District Tournament in eight years.   Clear Falls also saw a return to prominence on the mat.   The Knights have had individual state qualifiers in each of the previous four seasons with Coach Kerr at the helm.  In 2019, Clear Falls Lady Knights won the district championship.  Coach Kerr won Coach of the Year, Coach Herpin won Assistant Coach of the Year, and Ashanti Harvey was voted as the Most Outstanding Wrestler by the district coaches.

The 2020 season was highlighted by both the boys and girls leading the scoring entering the final round of the district finals.  Led by returning State Qualifier  Camryn Tresler, Sophomores - Andrea Baltierrez, Katie Mobley, and Marissa Zamora, Junior - Mikayla Wallace, and Seniors - Ashanti Harvey and former district champion Taylor Bailey - the girls wrestling team were once again crowned champions.

The boys team featuring several returning Regional qualifiers including Seniors Colby Rose, Kai Brown, Matthew Felts, and transfer, Quinton Peterson were able to finish as District Runners-Up.  Outstanding performances were provided by the aforementioned Seniors along with Sophomore's Joseph Keeler, Shota Brown, and Camden Castle.  Also providing key victories were Juniors, Alex Vargas, Joey Bassani, Evan Page, and Jacob Rodriguez.

Corey and his wife Kim reside in Bay Colony in Dickinson.  Together they have five children, all girls!  Kaitlyn (23), Makenna (22), Cayden (18), Abigail (16) and Addison (14).  In his spare time, Coach enjoys playing with his grandson Bentley, playing games on his phone, and watching his beloved Steelers!

. ASSISTANT COACH ROY HERPIN, a Michigan native, returns for his fourth season.   The fourth year math teacher and graduate from Grand Valley State University has been an active member of the wrestling community for the majority of his life.  Mr. Herpin was an All-State wrestler for Pennfield High School, a wrestling official with the MHSAA (Michigan High School Athletic Association), and had spent his last six years in Michigan as a volunteer wrestling coach.

In his hometown of Battle Creek,  Herpin and his father established a youth wrestling program for the Pennfield School District where he volunteered as a coach.  In their first four years, the youth program expanded from 10 kids with 4 state qualifiers to over 60 kids and 30 state qualifiers.  During his last two years at Grand Valley, Coach Herpin served as a volunteer assistant coach for Pennfield High School's varsity wrestling program where the team finished one match shy of qualifying for the Division 3 team state finals.  Coach Herpin was recognized by the district coaches for his contributions during the 2018-2019 season by being name the Assistant Coach of the Year.

Roy and his wife Kyrstin reside in League City and are proud parents to Charlotte and Haisley Herpin.

Coach Herpin says: "Wrestling is so much more than a sport. We bleed together, sweat together, and cry together. We push each other when we need to be pushed and we comfort each other when we need to be comforted. Wrestling helps mold you into the best version of yourself while creating a family that you will have for the rest of your life. The skills we teach stretch far beyond four walls and a mat."

These 10 lessons from SEAL basic training encourage you to start each day with a task completed.  Find someone to help you through life.  Respect everyone.  Know that life is not fair and you will fail often.  But if you take some risks, step up when times are toughest, face the bullies, lift up the downtrodden, and never, ever give up - If you do these things, then the next generation and the generations that follow will live in a world far better than the one we have today.
